چکیده
We present a novel indicator for the effectiveness of longitudinal, convecting-radiating fins to dissipate heat. Starting from an analysis properties entropy rate steady state, we show how it is possible assess efficiency such devices by looking at amount produced in heat transfer process. Our study concerns both purely convective and convection-radiant takes advantage explicit expressions distribution along fin. It shown that, suitable limit, standard definition entropic coincide. The role fluid temperature new case. An application aluminium fin given. Analytical numerical results are discussed.

How fins affect the economy and efficiency of human swimming.
The aim of the present study was to quantify the improvements in the economy and efficiency of surface swimming brought about by the use of fins over a range of speeds (v) that could be sustained aerobically. At comparable speeds, the energy cost (C) when swimming with fins was about 40 % lower than when swimming without them; when compared at the same metabolic power, the decrease in C allowed...
متن کاملImprovement of Energy Efficiency using Porous Fins in Heat Exchangers
The forced convection heat transfer in high porosity metal-foam filled tube heat exchangers are studied in this paper. The Brinkman Darcy momentum model and two energy equations for both solid and fluid phases in porous media are employed .The study shows that using metal-foams can significantly improve the heat transfer in heat exchangers. Keywords—metal foam, Nusselt number, heat exchanger, h...

data envelopment analysis (dea) is a powerful tool for measuring relative efficiency of organizational units referred to as decision making units (dmus). in most cases dmus have network structures with internal linking activities. traditional dea models, however, consider dmus as black boxes with no regard to their linking activities and therefore do not provide decision makers with the reasons...

متن کاملVariation of Parameters Method for Thermal Analysis of Straight Convective- Radiative Fins with Temperature Dependent Thermal Conductivity
In this study, thermal performance across straight convecting- radiating fin with temperature dependent thermal conductivity is considered. The variation of parameters (VPM) is adopted to analyze the nonlinear higher order differential equations arising due to thermal conductivity and heat transfer coefficient on temperature distribution. Pertinent parameters such as thermo geometric and radiat...
